When We Did Piedmont
I think Matt said it perfectly when he said “What a difference a month makes”. We learned a lot from the Tasting Tour of Spain and tried things a little differently for the second Secret Pickle, the Tasting Tour of Piedmont.
From creating a pop-up kitchen at the front of the Fair Trade Jewellery Atelier for the Tasting Tour of Piedmont, to capping the number of guests to a more intimate group of 20 while we tested the setup, the changes made for a new and equally entertaining Secret Pickle Supper Club experience.
Still, many of the most important things remained the same:
- We had wonderful food, lovingly prepared by Chef Matt Kantor.
- We were in a gorgeous space thanks to Ryan Taylor & Asaka Yamashita
- We had another great group of smart, interesting and passionate people around the table.
- And most surprising of all, we had another birthday to celebrate at the Secret Pickle Supper Club! Luckily Joey was with us and we could sing a proper Happy Birthday.

Big thanks to the folks to brought things together:
- Chef Matt Kantor who fed us, and fed us, and fed us.
- Ryan Taylor & Asaka Yamashita who gave us the space, cleaned and had us listening to the Looo guy from some random reason
- Gerry Thorpe who helped set the scene and poured your drinks
- Alexa Clark who set the scene and kept interrupting your meal with little bits and bites of information.
- Wade Shaw who kept us looked after all night long and pointed out that Italian Death Metal is not dinner music.
